Quick Tips for Camp Week

Published May 2, 2014.

With camp just around the corner, you may be looking for some great packing ideas. Here are three easy tips to help you prepare for your week at camp.

1. Add a little bit of home sweet home

A week away from home is a long time! Avoid feeling homesick by bringing along a few comfort items – your favourite pillow, pictures of your friends, that fluffy teddy bear that you love, or even a collection of your favourite songs for down time.

Our camp is all about fun and relaxation. “Toes up time” and break periods are perfect opportunities to bust open a good book or pull out your favourite board game.

Your cabin or trailer is like your home away from home when you’re at camp. So feel free to snuggle in and enjoy your stay.

2. Prepare for rain or shine

August is a funny month. You never know whether the week will be filled with sunshine or showers. Be smart and pack a raincoat, rain boots, flip flops and a bathing suit. Prepare for all kinds of weather when you’re stuffing your backpack or luggage. A jacket, a hat, and a mix of long pants, light sweaters, t-shirts and shorts are sure to keep you covered.

The beach is a popular spot. But sun and bug protection is key when swimming. So don’t forget your sunscreen and insect repellent!

3. Don’t stress, fun is number one!

At Camp Quality, we pride ourselves on providing 100% fun to our campers and volunteers. There are important rules that everyone must follow, but at the end of the day we’re all at camp for the same reason: To let loose and enjoy being young (or young at heart)!

Don’t be afraid to let your voice be heard – whether it’s because you’re concerned or you’re having the time of your life.
